The market has finally begun to recognize the strengths of TSRA and ITIC, both up more than 14% YTD. (see my posts on TSRA here and ITIC here) It is great to see the right steps . . .

Tessera Technologies, Inc: An Activist Emerges ($TSRA)

Tessera Technologies, Inc (NASDAQ: TSRA) recently filed the following press release indicating the emergence of an activist investor seeking to replace half of the Board of Directors. Usually when an activist contacts the company, the company sits on the letter, forcing the activist to publicize its position via an addendum to its SC-13D. In this case, TSRA preempts that by giving an outline of the letter and then providing a detailed response.

Tessera Technologies, Inc: Great News Lost in the Fray ($TSRA, $MSFT)

The markets have been brutal for the last few weeks, with a never-ending supply of negative news from Europe overshadowing positive economic news out of the US and a strong earnings season. This kind of climate can present great opportunities for investors to find companies that are doing well but are being pummeled in the markets due to largely unrelated issues. Consider the case of Tessera Technologies, Inc (NASDAQ: TSRA), which I have written about on this site before. . . .

Deutsche Bank Top LBO Candidates: Guess who is on the list? ($TSRA, $GPS, $AEO)

Deutsche Bank has released its list of Top 50 LBO Candidates. Tessera Technologies (NASDAQ: TSRA) made the cut, along with Lexmark (NYSE: LXK) and two of the clothing retailers I like (The Gap (NYSE: GPS) and American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE: AEO)). Though, notably absent is Aeropostale (NYSE: ARO), which I think is a better candidate than either of the other two.

Tessera Technologies announces spin-off and reorganization (TSRA, IDCC)

I’ve written about Tessera Technologies (TSRA) here, here, and here and compared the company to a company with a similar business model, Interdigital (IDCC), here. TSRA recently announced two initiatives to enhance the company’s performance:
