Sir John Templeton’s 16 Rules for Investment Success

A few years ago, I read Investing the Templeton Way: The Market-Beating Strategies of Value Investing’s Legendary Bargain Hunter which is the closest thing to a biography on Sir John Templeton. Templeton was a pioneer of global diversification (one of the first to invest in Japan in the 1960s) and a value investor (favouring fundamental analysis).

The book had a few decent nuggets of information. I found this 17 page PDF today that shows Templeton’s 16 Rules for Investment Success and I thought I would share it, as it is more concise than the book and covers all of the major elements of his investing style. Enjoy!

Yeah, I agree. I think the key takeaways include the focus on absolute total returns and looking abroad at the many opportunities that exist internationally.
